Chloe Clark Students Venture to Local Stream

Chloe Clark aOn October 27th, third grade classes from Chloe Clark Elementary in DuPont visited Sequalitchew Creek to learn about their local watershed. Nearly 100 students stepped off the bus and walked down the winding trail framed by towering big leaf maples in their stunning fall colors, leading down to expansive views of the Puget Sound.

Throughout the day they studied the health of the creek by testing the water, observed the stream habitat up close, created crafts to represent the salmon lifecycle, and viewed a variety of stream bugs through magnifying scopes. Educators from the Pierce Conservation District, Pierce County Public Works, and Harbor WildWatch had a blast teaching (and learning from) the kids as they explored nature right in their own backyard.
